Saltanat Suleimenova, a Tax and Legal Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers Almaty, has extensive experience and expertise across taxes and industries, with particular experience in the energy and natural resources sector.
Saltanat advises on structuring investments and transactions in Kazakhstan to optimize tax costs and develop tax-efficient operating structures for companies doing business in Kazakhstan under Kazakhstan statutory tax law, subsurface use agreements and conventions for the avoidance of double taxation.
She conducts tax due diligence on targets of corporate acquisitions.
Saltanat also represents clients before the Tax Committee of the Ministry of Finance and assists with the resolution of tax disputes.
Yergazin Abdrakhmanov is a Tax and Legal Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers Almaty. Yergazin specializes in mergers & acquisitions and has valuable experience advising clients in financial and tax due diligence projects related to major mergers & acquisitions in the metals & mining, oil & gas, utilities industries in Kazakhstan and Central Asia.
Yergazin holds MBA in Corporate Finance degree from the University of Cambridge, having graduated in the top 10% of the class. He also had secondment to the Moscow practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers where he specialized in cross-border investments across the former Soviet Union.
Konstantin Yeliseyev is a Senior Manager in PwC Transaction Services Group in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Konstantin has over seven years career in public accounting, and his considerable experience includes delivering due diligence, consulting and audit services in a range of industries, including mining and oil & gas big international companies operating in Kazakhstan and across the Central Asian and Caucasus region.
Konstantin is a member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). Konstantin holds a master’s degree in Economics.
Akmal Nartaev is a Corporate Finance Senior Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers Almaty. He has extensive experience in financial advisory services with specialized knowledge in valuations and financial modeling. Principal specialties include mining, oil and gas.
Akmal‘s expertise includes such areas as:
- • Financial modeling: development of strategic and budgeting financial models for the largest holdings in Kazakhstan.
- • Valuation: valuation of holdings and stand alone companies in different industries for the purposes of restructuring, acquisition, disposal, purchase price allocation and other uses as stipulated in IFRS.
- • Development of business plans and feasibility studies.
Akmal holds МВА degree from A.B. Freeman School of Business, Tulane University (USA), Kazakh state licenses to perform appraisal and is CFA level 3 candidate.

Doug has been working in PwC’s Sustainability & Climate Change practice in Russia since 2003. Doug is a member of PwC’s Global non financial Reporting and Assurance team, working with colleagues from other territories developing methodologies related to reporting and Assurance. Doug also actively participates in the PwC Global Sustainability Mining Team.
His main area of specialization is provision of assurance on sustainability reports. He also works with many clients in an advisory capacity, including a wide range of subjects such as stakeholder engagement, risk management, socio economic impact assessment, supply chain monitoring and environmental / health and safety due diligence.
Irina is a Director in the Moscow office of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), and has joined Forensic Services group in 2005 after 9 years in the audit practice in the firm.
Having spent 9 years in Audit, Irina has gained an extensive experience with financial service, industrial and telecommunication clients.
Irina has spent two years on an international assignment as an audit manager in PwC Germany (Stuttgart) leading multinational audit projects. She has also extensive experience in Russia and Germany on a global Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) assignment, was involved in the investigation and subsequent remediation work for the leading automotive production company.
Nigel Pickett MBA, is a Principal Business Consultant, with SRK (UK). With a multi sector background, Nigel commenced his working career in mechanical and production engineering. Nigel has many years of experience in the mining sector, spending 7 years in mechanical engineering on surface and U/G installations and 8 years in mineral processing plant management. During this time he worked on several technical and business performance improvement projects including the redevelopment of the last process plant to which he was appointed Plant Manager. He followed this by moving into research and development for 2 years where he worked on the development of a new process for the pelletisation of anthracite coal fines. Following his award of an MBA, he moved into business consulting where he has worked in senior roles managing business projects across a wide variety of business sectors, e.g. Mining, Oil & Gas, Banking & Finance and IT service and in geographies as diverse as UK, Ireland, Sweden, Philippines, Saudi Arabia and the Ukraine.

Sabine Anderson (MEng Mining) is a Senior Mining Engineer with SRK Consulting (UK) Limited with 10 years experience in underground and surface mining. Sabine’s work focuses on independent technical assessment of exploration and mining projects, in support of acquisitions, debt and equity finance, including stock exchange listings, where she has project managed numerous commissions. Sabine’s work includes project evaluation and valuation, economic analysis, and multi-disciplinary due diligence. Sabine has managed scoping studies and worked on pre-feasibility studies. Commodity experience include gold, platinum, nickel, lead zinc, molybdenum, copper, potash and phosphates, gemstones, diamonds, tantalite, coal and mineral sands. Countries worked in include Russia and the CIS, Western and Southern Africa, Europe and South America.

Chris has 10 years of practical experience at a number of underground and open pit operations in Australia, Ireland, Bulgaria, Romania and Ukraine. He specialises in mine optimisation and design, geological database setup, mine planning, scheduling, cost estimation and financial modelling. Chris has worked with SRK in consulting for 3 years on a large number of projects and commodities mainly in Central Asia, Russia and India.

Inge Moors (MSc) is a mining engineer specialising in all aspects of mineral economics. Since joining SRK in 2007, she has been directly involved in various due diligence studies with specific focus on Mineral Experts’ Reports for the London Stock Exchange. In her current role she is also directly responsible for the development of Financial Models for various technical studies including scoping, pre-feasibility and feasibility studies.

Alexander Polonyankin is a Senior Resource Geologist with SRK Consulting (Russia). He has over 10 years of experience in mining industry. Prior to joining SRK, Alexander worked as an exploration geologist, as a mine geologist at an open pit gold mine, as a gemologist for a jewelry company and as a resource modeling geologist at a large iron ore company. At the iron ore company he was involved in resource modeling, estimation of resources, submission of results to the GKZ, grade-control, geological and economic risk assessment of exploration projects, introducing geoinformation systems to enterprises, and review of internal geological reports. With SRK Alexander has been Project Manager of several Resource audits.

Svetlana Polutornaya is a specialist on business evaluation employed by SRK Consult‐ ing (Russia) Ltd, who specializes on mining consulting with over five years of experience in economics of mining and project management. She holds a Diploma of Higher Education and defended her PhD in the Moscow State Mining University as a specialist in mining economics and mining management.
As an employee of SRK Svetlana took part in cost database development project for SS, PFS, FS. Among other, it included identifying potential suppliers of key mining equipment and estimating provisional capital costs as well as key factors that may define additional costs in various regions.

Max Brown is a Senior Geotechnical Engineer with 10 years experience in the extractive industries. He specialises in data collection, the geotechnical characterisation of rock masses, open pit slope design, underground support and excavation design and numerical modelling. Max has developed numerous geotechnical investigation drilling programmes and co-ordinated many laboratory testing programmes. He has worked on a variety of metalliferous and industrial mineral projects and since joining SRK Max has undertaken open pit, quarry and underground mining geotechnical projects throughout the UK and Europe as well as in West and Central Africa, South America and India.

Phil is an experienced geotechnical engineer and project manager with extensive experience on mining and construction projects in UK and overseas. Since 2007, he has been the China regional manager of the Wardell Armstrong representative office in Beijing, where he has responsible for the delivery of coal bed methane and underground coal gasification studies.
His international project management experience includes feasibility studies, the design of major site investigations, geotechnical interpretation, foundation and slope design, underground mine support design, hydrogeological studies, and the management of waste from mining activities. In UK, his project experience includes the management and design of geotechnical and brownfield engineering projects involving slope and foundation engineering, ground improvement and remediation of contaminated sites.
Nick is an environmental scientist with broadly based experience in the mining and minerals industry. He has worked extensively with government and regional authorities and institutions for mineral planning, mining administration, environmental protection, industrial development and finance. He is fully conversant with national and international guidelines, procedures, regulations and standards for the mining and quarrying sector.
As an ecologist and landscape scientist Nick has extensive experience (29 years) of mine closure, mine reclamation, environmental audit, due diligence and assessment of environmental liabilities in the mining and quarrying sector. He has been responsible for the preparation of good practice guidance for mine and quarry reclamation, published by MIRO, UK DoE and DEFRA. His experience covers metalliferous mines, coal, kaolin and construction aggregate mining and quarrying in the UK and overseas.
Was born in 1965. Graduated from Beijing Language and Culture University, Law School of Wuhan University, and Kazakh State Academy of Management. Holds degrees in international law and economics. Doctor of Science in Economics. Speaks English, Chinese, and Arabic.
Started his professional carrier as Senior Economist at the Ministry of External Eco‐ nomic Ties of the Republic of Kazakhstan; served as Senior Specialist of the China based representation office of the Kazakh Ministry of External Economic Ties in Urumqi; held position of the Managing Director of the Kazakh Trading House in Hong Kong. Went on to hold positions of the Chairman of the Board of Almaty Trade and Finance Bank and Chairman of the Board of the People’s Savings Bank of Kazakhstan. Was appointed Minister of Transport and Communications, Deputy Prime‐Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
From January 2006 served as Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Bolat Svyatov has a broad experience in leading and anti-crisis management of enterprises in metallurgical sector as well as management of enterprises with over 1 billion USD annual turnover. Mr Svyatov has Master’s degree in Management and PhD in Technical Science. He is a member and a corresponding member of international and domestic science and engineering academies. He is the author of 130 scientific papers and monographs in metallurgy. Some of his ideas were introduced in metallurgy enterprises.
He also has experience in setting up and managing vertically-integrated structures in mining and metallurgical sector, restructuring of business units and setting up new production units.
He was awarded the “Kurmet” medal and the Jubilee medal “10 years of Astana”.

Nikolay Vladimirovich Radostovets is an active public figure in Kazakhstan. New Anti-monopoly legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan was developed on his initiative and currently it is the most advanced anti-monopoly legislation amongst all CIS countries.
Anti-monopoly Committee led by Mr Radostovets for the first time in the CIS successfully completed housing reform and de-monopolisation of more than 80 industrial holdings and thus created healthy competitive environment for development of private enterprise in Kazakhstan. It helped to solve the most important state objectives – ended subsidising housing and utilities services, created KSK and many utilities services transferred to competitive private enterprises.
When he held the position of the Minister of Labour and Social Security of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr Radostovets initiated for the first time in CIS a legislative act “About Social Partnership” which helped to establish constructive social dialogue between the government, employers and professional unions.
For his fruitful work in the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, active contribution to economical reforms during the difficult transitional period, strengthening the federal status, stability and international unity Mr Radostovets received the commendation of the President of Kazakhstan.
In the last few years Mr Radostovets published dozens of articles and reports on the current problems of private enterprise development, accession of the Kazakhstan to the WTO, export growth.
He achieved significant results in uniting national and foreign business communities in Kazakhstan. A number of republican association of large enterprises were created on his initiative, such as the Eurasian Industrial Association, the Republican Association of Mining Metallurgical Enterprises, the Union of Producers and Exporters of Kazakhstan. These structures took an active part in formation of the All-national Union of Entrepreneurs and Employers of Kazakhstan “Atameken”. They work actively on developing national manufacture and ensuring social responsibility of businesses.
Mr Radostovets is a member of the Presidential Union of Entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan. In 2007 for his achievements in development of economy and social structure, exemplary services to the State and active social work he was awarded “Kurmet” order.

Mr. Djumanov has over 13 years of investment manage‐ ment, investment banking, and advisory experience in emerging markets of Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasian countries including Russia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Mongolia. He has worked in major international financial centres such as New York, London and Zurich.
Mr. Djumanov is Chairman of Eurasia Capital Group, a Singapore‐based holding group with extensive investments in Central Asia. He leads Eurasia Capital Management, investment management firm with offices in Almaty, Kazakhstan and Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia that manages a number of investment funds focused on investments in Central Asia, Mongolia, Russia and China. He was Vice President of Auerbach Grayson & Co., a brokerage house in New York advising US institutional investors on portfolio investments in emerging markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA). He was Head of Corporate Finance in Central Asia and the Caucasus at Ernst & Young as well as investment banker at Renaissance Capital in Moscow and Credit Suisse First Boston in Zurich and London. Mr. Dju‐ manov received his Master of International Affairs from Columbia University and an MBA from Oxford University.

Larissa Loznova is a Vice President-Senior Analyst at Moody’s Eastern Europe, based in Moscow. She is responsible for ratings of corporate issuers in the steel & mining sector in Russia and CIS.
Larissa joined Moody’s in December 2005 after working for BNP Paribas as the Head of Export Finance in Russia, providing regional expertise through strong relationship with customers mostly in Energy and Commodities sector and by leading marketing efforts to expand export finance activities in the country. Prior to joining BNP Paribas, Larissa worked for the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for over 7 years, in Moscow and in London both as a banker and as the credit officer. At the EBRD, in the capacity of a Principal banker she was responsible for leading, structuring and execution of debt transactions across a variety of general industry sectors in Russia.
As a credit officer at EBRD she analysed different type of transactions including lending and equity investments and performed credit reviews of potential deals in banking sector, infrastructure and general industry located in CIS and Central and Eastern European countries. Larissa holds master degrees in Finance from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Rodrik is the Regional Director for Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia at CRU. He is responsible for the group’s work in the region representing both CRU Strategies and CRU Analysis.
Presently based in London and Moscow, he first worked in Kazakhstan in 1996 for Kazakhstan Goldfields. Since that time, his focus has evolved from implementing new technologies and best practice in the region’s mining, metals and EPC companies to include strategic support for government and financial institutions. Prior to CRU he held Regional Director positions at a US EPC software company and a global metallurgical engineering firm, both based in Moscow.
Rodrik holds degrees in Electrical Engineering, Russian and Management Science from the University of Waterloo in Canada. He is fluent in English, French and Russian.

Ch. Khashchuluun was born in Mongolia in 1966. After graduating with honors from the Moscow State University’s Economic Faculty in 1989 he joined Mongolian National University as a lecturer of Political Economy. After acquiring Master degree in Economics at the Yokohama City University, Japan in 1996 and Ph.D degree in Economics at Keio Universtiy, Japan in 2003 in international economics, returned to Mongolia to continue to work in economic/business research and education field at the National University of Mongolia. Since 2004 has worked as a Dean of the School of Economic Studies of the National University of Mongolia, a largest national school of economics and business administration in the country with Bachelor/Master/Ph.D degrees in 14 major programs in business and economics with 120 professors, 2500 undergraduate and 700 graduate students. He has participated in a number of international economic and business studies as a consultant and chief researcher. In 2006 joined the Board of Central Bank of Mongolia. Since February 2009, he works as a Chairman of National Development and Innovation Committee of Mongolia, a government agency in charge of national development strategy and investment policy.

David Pearce is a Principal Consultant with SRK Consulting and has more than 20 years experience in the international resource industry. Mr. L’Huillier is Vice President, Head of Operations at ENRC Kazakhstan. He is responsible for the Group’s operations in Kazakhstan, including Ferroalloys, Iron Ore, Alumina and Aluminum and Energy Divisions.

Chris graduated in 1995 with a degree in Geology from Southampton University and was employed by Rio Tinto Exploration as part of their graduate intake scheme. He has held posts within Rio Tinto Exploration as a Project Geologist based in Central Europe and Turkey before completing his Masters on Mining and Exploration Geology at the James Cook University in Australia. Chris went on to manage exploration operations in North and South America as well as Central Africa, before taking on the role of Exploration Executive based in Rio Tinto’s head office in London. In 2006-2008, N. Ryspanov headed Kazprom-Nerud Consortium, worked at the development of non-metal industry of the RK. Scientific work for application of dolomite products in the industry and agriculture was carried out.
Over the 2008 to 2010 period, N. Ryspanov held the office of the Deputy Director of the Industry Committee, meanwhile supervising the mining and smelting complex of RK; later he headed a directorate responsible for management of the mining assets of Samruk-Kazyna National Welfare Fund Samruk-Kazyna, including supervision of Kazatomprom and Kazakhstan-Engineering National Companies and participation in establishment of Tau-Ken-Samruk national mining company, Consolidated Chemical Company and Tau-Ken Altyn.
Since 2009, he has held office of the Vice President, NAC Kazatomprom, being in charge of production, scientific and technological development and education; N. Ryspanov is Deputy Chairman of the Scientific and Technical Council of NAC Kazatomprom.
N. Ryspanov was successively given titles of Academic Advisor, Corresponding Member of the National Engineering Academy of the Republic of Kazakhstan, awarded by badges of honor, namely: Kenshy Danky – 3rd degree (Mining Glory – 3rd degree), Honorary Non-Metal Miner of Kazakhstan, Excellent Non-Metal Miner, Honored Mechanical Engineer of Kazakhstan, 15th Anniversary of the Engineering Academy of RK.

Mr. Jean Nortier was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Uranium One Inc. and to the company’s Board of Directors in August 2008. Prior to his appointment as President and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Nortier served as interim Chief Executive Officer of Uranium One since February 2008. Tim McGraw was named as Executive Vice President of NUKEM, Inc. in May of 2008, having previously served in senior executive positions at NUKEM, Inc. for a number of years. Since joining the company in 1995, Mr. McGraw has been instrumental in developing the company’s strategic direction in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Phil is a Mining Geologist with over 25 years experience of providing consultancy services to minerals companies throughout the world, with particular specialisation in CIS, Europe, Central and West Africa, and China. He has developed an extensive portfolio of exploration and mining-related contracts, from project management through to technical audits of a large variety of metalliferous and industrial mineral deposits. He began his career as an exploration geologist with the Robertson Group, working extensively on gold and base metal projects in North Africa, before moving on to pursue a PhD in exploration geochemistry. This was followed by a period as lecturer at Camborne School of Mines, in conjunction with an active role as a consulting geologist. From there, he moved on to his present position as Director with Wardell Armstrong International (formerly CSMA Consultants Limited).

As an ecologist and landscape scientist Nick has extensive experience (29 years) of mine closure, mine reclamation, environmental audit, due diligence and assessment of environmental liabilities in the mining and quarrying sector. He has been responsible for the preparation of good practice guidance for mine and quarry reclamation, published by MIRO, UK DoE and DEFRA. His experience covers metalliferous mines, coal, kaolin and construction aggregate mining and quarrying in the UK and overseas.
John is a professional mining engineer with more than 40 years of experience in the mining sector both as an operational manager and as an international consultant. John held senior positions with direct responsibility for mining and processing engineering and operations and was Vice President of Macintyre Mines, a big Canadian mining company with precious metal, copper and coal interests. John worked in a wide range of mining operations including ferrous, non‐ferrous, polymetallic, precious metals and coal. He has been Project Director on numerous assign‐ ments for a wide range of clients, principally in CIS countries. John has worked extensively in Central Asia since 1992 on projects in Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. For the past 17 years John has principally worked in the FSU where he is IMC Montan’s resident Director in Moscow responsible for all IMC Montana activities in the FSU.

Gabriel de Lastours joined the EBRD in 2006 as an Associate Banker in the Bank’s Natural Resources team within the Energy Business Group. Since 2006, he has worked on a variety of mining and hydrocarbon financing projects in Eastern and Central Europe and in the CIS, including coal and precious metals mining projects. In 2010, Gabriel transferred to the Almaty Resident Office with the objective to develop the EBRD’s Natural Resources portfolio in the country. Prior to joining the Bank, Gabriel was a senior consultant with Ernst & Young’s Transaction Advisory Services in Paris, where he worked on corporate transactions and oil & gas and mining advisory assignments, and previously as an analyst for Credit Lyonnais (Calyon) in New York in investment banking. Jon Edwards is responsible for developing the London Stock Exchange’s business in Russia and the CIS. Mr. Edwards has been working to promote both Main Market and AIM to Russian and CIS companies and advisors.
One aspect of his work is facilitating communication between the City investment community and the CIS countries. Mr. Edwards is a frequent traveller to Russia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine and has also organized conferences in London to promote CIS companies to the investor community in the UK.

Stephan has almost 20 years of banking experience including 10 years in project finance. He spent the last 4 years in the Singapore team of UniCredit’s Project & Commodity Finance department where he was responsible for natural resources projects in Asia/Pacific. In Singapore he structured and financed a number of mining and oil & gas transactions, for which Unicredit acted as Sole Mandated Lead Arranger and Underwriter, e.g. for Straits Asia Resources, Leed Petroleum and IB Daiwa. Since Stephan’s return to Munich he has been focussing on Mining transactions globally, e.g. for Mirabela Nickel and an Ukrainian coal prospect. Stephan joined Unicredit’s predecessor organisation HVB in 1994 and was trained in the corporate division of the bank. From 1997 until 1998 he was in charge of the bank’s correspondent banking business in Southeast Asia, and then joined Project and Structured Finance in 1998. Stephan holds a Master Degree in Business Administration from Munich University, Germany.

Dr Mike Armitage is the Managing Director of SRK (UK) Ltd and a Principal Mining Geologist with twenty years experience in the industry. Prior to joining SRK he worked on gold mines in South Africa and also completed a PhD at Renco Gold Mine in Zimbabwe. At SRK he is responsible for managing feasibility studies and stock exchange competent persons reports on behalf of mining companies and also audits and due diligence studies on behalf of investment institutions or in support of mergers and acquisitions.
He has written several papers on resource and reserve estimation methodology and classification and was until recently the joint course co‐ordina‐ tor of an MSc in Mineral Resources at Cardiff University. Mikhail is a Principal Exploration Geologist with SRK Exploration Services. He has more than 20 years experience in exploration, mining and scientific projects in Asia, Europe and North America. Mikhail has a strong academic background and completed his Ph.D. on geochemistry and the ore potential of the komatiite formation of the Southern Siberia. In his career he has been in receipt of several scientific and industrial research grants in Russia and Germany. Mikhail has over 15 years experience working as a Resource Database Manager, Principal Exploration Geologist and Exploration Manager for Canadian, American and Mongolian exploration and mining companies. He has been the author of publications, reviews and reports and is specialized in exploration for uranium, potash, PGE, Gold and base metals. He is currently based in Moscow coordinating SRK ES projects for Russian, Asia and CIS.

Serikjan Urbisinov has extensive geological industry experience working on various exploration and mining projects throughout the world. He actively participated in gold exploration programs of Orvana Resources Corp. and ASARCO Inc. in the USA, Canada and Central Asia. He also participated in company’s negotiations with the state organizations of Kyrgyzstan and Kazakstan in obtaining concession areas. He possesses strong computer skills due to his degree in Computer Science and over 6 years of experience in the software development.
For the last three year, Serikjan Urbisinov is a member of Micromine Geology Consulting Group that specializes in the resource modeling and evaluation, using various mining software packages.
